Music deconstruction

My first video that i analysed was Mika- Big girls. This is an illustrative video because the lyrics that are used relates and matches to what is happening in the video. Also the lyrics are mimed correctly throughout the video, this is so it presents the song correctly. He uses location within the genre title to show that no matter your size you should be able to go anywhere feeling comfortable and be accepted.

My second video in which i analysed was Bruno Mars- Lazy song. The part of godwins theory in which this video is based in is his amplification section. This is because the only thing that really matches the song the the video is the miming of the lyrics and also some of the actions he makes in the video match the lyrics. But other than this the video doesn't really match the song due to the people in it and the mise en scene used as there are monkeys in the song dancing which has no relation to the video. It is very genre based due to the location in which the video was set.

Gotye- Somebody that i used to know is my third analysed song which has the style of the video as disjuncture. The only feature in this video that matches the song is the mimed lyrics used. Other than this the video does not relate to the lyrics at all which means that there is no connection between the lyrics, the video or the song at all. Therefore it shows that there is an artistic view in this in which helps portray how unique the video and the song is.

Adele- Someone like you. This video is a sign of amplification due to the fact it uses location to show the search that relates to her lyrics and also the narrative is matched in the song via miming. But due to the limitations of what is involved within Godwins theory it goes down as amplification because it doesn't fully relate to the lyrics as it is just her walking down the street.

James Blunt- You're beautiful is a disjunctured video as the lyrics match the miming of the song in the video but the video does not relate to the lyrics at all. This is shown by where the video is located and what happens in the video. But there may be artistic portrayal within the video to add emotional. Also voyeurism is used as there is a little bit of nudity as James Blunt is topless which tries to send a message from the lyrics.

My sixth analysed video is snow patrol- chasing cars. This has an illustrative view on it as the narrative matches the miming but also the lyrics matches the video. Therefore there is relation and thought within the video. They use location in genre as a way for the lyrics to match the video so the lyrics are presented in an effective correct manner.

Tyler the creator- she is an illustrative video due to the lyrics matching the video which means the correct narrative is used as it presents a mini story from the lyrics which shows it is genre based as they also use location to present the ideal scene. There is also artistic portrayal so that there is an understanding in the video which makes it more interesting and attractive. Voyeurism is also included because there is a slightly intimate bedroom scene which links to the lyrics therefore Godwins theory is used to an effective sense

Omarion- Post to be. This is an amplification video due to the lyrics being mimed which match in the video. It tries to use genre (location) to present the lyrics but it doesn't match with the lyrics fully which makes it not illustrative. They use mise en scene and props to relate to the lyrics and genre of the song.
