Weekly log

Week 1: during this week we got an overview on what this year holds and what we have to do and achieve. It was good to have this so that i had a target to aim for to try and achieve excellence in my work. It then gave me a strong idea on what the course as about and what was included.

Week 2: this week I had to choose 2 music videos/songs that I liked and so did the rest of the class. We then watched them as a class together and "analysed" it so that the teacher knew what sort of features we were able to identify that use media, such as: lighting and camera angles. This also was able to give us all ideas on what we could and can include in our video that we have to produce.

Week 3: then this week we had to begin our two music video deconstructions. This was a way for us to be able to identify features used in professionals videos to help us produce ours. I had to do two very detailed deconstructions with pictures included for us to explain what we wrote about. It was also a very good way to be able to see if the lyrics matched the video too. Or if the song/video had a story line.

Week 4: this week i had to write a letter to the production company of my song that i am going to produce a music video too. I had to do this to get copyright from them in order for me to be allowed to legally use their song.

Week 5+6: This week our storyboards got introduced to us. These are the drawings and plans of our music video ideas in which we want to produce. They are a good way of organizing the music video as it is a step by step story board of what is going to happen in it.

Week 7: We then had an initial ideas sheet in which we have wrote down 3 music video ideas in order to get peoples responses on it for them to say which one they prefer and why just so that the video will reach the target audience more and more people will enjoy the production.

Week 8: i then produced my cast list and took photos of them so that people who look at my blog are familiar with who is going to be involved

Week 9: i went to the location that i will be shooting my music video and took photos within that area that i will be shooting the video so that i can get an idea of where the certain shots and scenes will be directed

Week 10- i then researched costume ideas to make my music video more interesting and i decided that i will get my cast dressed in clown outfits so the song can have more relation to costume. This also involved prop ideas to match the video.

Week 11 + 12 - i then wrote up a story board in order of lyrics, acting and location so that my music video idea could get identified clearly so i could organise when and where i can take video shots. therefore it gave me more direction and organisation for shooting.

Week 13 - i then shot for my first scene of my video, i took the shot with one of my friends with a black background behind him and shot it in black and white to create a floating head effect.

Week 14 - i then took 2 more videos for my next 2 sets of lyrics which were shot at at the school and down at shoalstone. along with this i edited my storyboard a bit in order for my video to look a better.

Week 15 - i tried collecting my shots together so that i could get the ones that are taken at the same destination at the same time to avoid having to revisit the places. therefore i took two videos down at shoalstone but could only take two due to not having the correct cast with me.

Week 16 - with the current footage that i have i started to edit it just to get used to using the editing tools in order to make my video better and also to adjust the music to the correct timing of the footage.

Week 17- With the current footage i have, i've linked the timing of the music to the video. This week i will get more filming done for my video so i can focus on just editing the video to make it better.

Week 18 + 19 - i edited my storyboard slightly in order for it to improve the look of it a bit more. So therefore i shot a few more shots but they were a bit different to the things i wrote on my storyboard. I also done some editing within my video.

Week 20 - After getting feedback from my questionnaire on survey monkey it gave me ideas for improvement, therefore i started to edit my video a bit more.

Week 21-22-23- i then spent a few weeks on editing my music video with the current footage that i have in order to get it to the standard that i wanted.

Week 24+25- I then went out filming for the rest of my video in which i need to start editing in the style that i have for the rest of my video to make my video relate to the song title more.

Week 26 onwards- i then finished my editing of my music video to get it up to scratch and make it looking professional and genre + title related to make it the most effective so it reaches out to the correct target audience and maybe more others.

Week 27- this week i completed my ancillary texts, divi-pak and music magazine album advert, this included a lot of photo-shop and also included many shots within my music video in the work, this was good as it made it more real and identifiable to the use of all my work.

Week 28- i then done an evaluation of all my work which included what media technology did i use and things like that. doing an overall evaluation of my work was good as it made me discuss my work in depth so it showed my understanding of the project. i then added the questionnaire that i used previously within this year for my research as a way for people to understand the process i went through to decide my genre and target audience
